FAQ

What is wellness counselling, and how can it help me?

Wellness counselling is a collaborative process between a trained counsellor and an individual seeking to improve their overall well-being. It encompasses a holistic approach to mental, emotional, and physical health, focusing on enhancing self-awareness, coping skills, and personal growth. Through supportive guidance and evidence-based techniques, wellness counselling can help you navigate life’s challenges, cultivate resilience, and foster a deeper sense of fulfilment and balance.

What types of issues do you specialise in addressing?

I specialise in addressing a wide range of issues, including but not limited to anxiety, stress management, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, trauma recovery, self-esteem, and personal development. My goal is to create a supportive and non-judgmental space where clients feel empowered to explore and address the unique challenges they’re facing.

What can I expect during a counselling session?

During a counselling session, you can expect a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental environment where you can freely express your thoughts, feelings, and concerns. Sessions typically begin with a discussion of your current challenges, goals, and any progress or setbacks since our last meeting. From there, we’ll work collaboratively to explore underlying issues, develop coping strategies, and set actionable goals to promote your well-being.

How long do counselling sessions typically last?

Counselling sessions typically last between 50 to 60 minutes. This duration allows us to delve into meaningful discussions while still respecting your time and schedule. However, the length of sessions can be adjusted based on your preferences and therapeutic needs.

What is your approach to counselling?

My approach to counselling is rooted in empathy, authenticity, and collaboration. I draw from a variety of therapeutic modalities, including person-centred therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based techniques, and solution-focused therapy. By tailoring our approach to meet your unique needs and preferences, we’ll work together to foster insight, resilience, and positive change.

How do I schedule an appointment with you?

Scheduling an appointment with me is easy! You can reach out to me via WhatsApp or email, and I’ll respond promptly to arrange a convenient time for our session. Additionally, you can use the online booking system on my website to view my availability and schedule appointments directly.

Once your session is booked you will receive an email with your client form and consent form to complete before the initial session.

What are your rates and do you accept medical aid?

My rates for counselling sessions are competitive and reflective of the quality of care and expertise provided. I offer hourly rates and package deals for multiple sessions. Please feel free to contact me for more information on rates and payment options.

Medical Aids do not pay for sessions with an ASCHP-registered counsellor. You therefore cannot claim for your sessions with me.

Do you offer remote or in-person counselling sessions?

At the moment, I offer only remote counselling sessions via a secure video conferencing platform.

Is counselling confidential?

Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of counselling ethics. Your privacy and confidentiality are of the utmost importance to me, and all information shared during our sessions is kept strictly confidential, except in situations where there is a legal obligation to disclose information (such as instances of imminent harm to self or others).

What is your cancellation policy?

I have a 24-hour cancellation policy for scheduled appointments. If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, please notify me at least 24 hours in advance to avoid being charged for the session. I understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, and I strive to accommodate your needs to the best of my ability.

What if I’m not sure if counselling is right for me?

It’s completely normal to have reservations or uncertainties about starting counselling. If you’re unsure whether counselling is right for you, I encourage you to schedule an initial consultation with me. During this session, we can discuss your concerns, goals, and any questions you may have about the counselling process. Together, we’ll explore whether counselling is a good fit for your needs and determine the best course of action moving forward.
